United Lutheran Church will begin in-person worship on October 4th, 2020. You can also listen to our 10:15am Sunday services on the radio (KNOX 1310 AM) and online through Facebook.
Sunday School (PreK-5) begins October 4th, 2020
Faith Friends (PreK-5) & Confirmation (6 - 9th) begins October 7th, 2020
We plan to begin in-person Sunday School on October 4th at our regular time of 9:00am (YAY!). Students will meet upstairs in the Sunday School classrooms, be sure to look at the whiteboard on the staircase landing for instructions
Faith Friends will begin on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00pm (Yahoo!) All students will meet in the Lounge to begin and will separate into small groups later.
United will also offer online options. This includes short weekly videos from the Whirl Curriculum, faith conversation questions, biweekly Zoom options with our leaders, and activities to guide faith practices in your homes.
We have been waiting for the day when we get to be back with your teenagers! Seriously. We’re not kidding. As you know, this year is going to look a little different. Because of the pandemic, we’ve decided to postpone Confirmation day for our 10th graders until the spring of 2021. Confirmation classes for our 6th through 8th graders will be held in the Fellowship Hall at our usual time on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.
We will provide a physically distant setup, with masks required. We’ve decided to switch up our curriculum this year to Sparkhouse Re:form, which will allow for both in-person and online learning. We plan to use Zoom and Google Classroom to stay connected with those at home. The 9th graders will meet in the Choir Room on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm, while beginning their mentor program in January. We hope to be creative in providing safe service opportunities for our Confirmation youth through worship assisting and community involvement. We will also offer Youth Group for all high school youth at 8:00pm on Wednesday evenings in the Lounge. We’re excited to welcome you back!
A couple of things:
Everyone is asked to wear masks in the church, even when social distancing.
There will be hand sanitizer provided in each room.
There will be no snacks or drinks served during church school.
There will be no singing during music time, yet there’ll be music!
Each classroom and surface will be cleaned thoroughly between uses.
Sing and Ring Choir Update
As we move into fall, United Lutheran staff has decided to postpone the start date of our Sing and Ring Choir. We feel that it’s the best decision in order to protect our youth and teachers and will reassess after September. With that being said, we hope to stay connected and keep you updated on when it’s safe to return to in-person Sing and Ring Choir.
