2008 Minneapolis Mission Trip

Dear Youth and Parents,

It is already time to start thinking about upcoming Youth & Family Ministry summer trips, and we have a couple of great opportunities before us!  This summer we are looking forward to doing a mission trip to Minneapolis through the YouthWorks! organization and in 2009 the ELCA Youth Gathering will be held in New Orleans.  Attached you will find additional information about both, and an application and registration forms are also available.

Here are a few things to know about the trip:

• This is trip is open to this years 6-12 graders and adult guides (20+). 
• We need one adult guide for every 5 middle schoolers and one adult guide for every 7 high schoolers.
• The dates are Sunday, August 3 through Saturday, August 9, 2008.
• The cost is estimated at $400 per person, which includes everything (registration, travel, food, lodging, and activities).
• We are asking that each youth participant pay $200 deposit.  $50 is due upon registration.  The other $150 is required in three $50 increments due in December, February, and April.
• Each participant is to complete 40 hours of community service in preparation for the trip.
• Deadline for registration is December 16, 2007.  Spaces are limited and going fast.

The sooner you sign up, the sooner we can get your spot secured.  Yes, friends can come along, but we need everyone and their families to work together to make fundraising and preparations happen!  Once you sign up, you are responsible for all costs incurred, whether you go or not.  Also, any costs that are not covered by your participation in fundraising, must be covered by your family.
